Nights Away

To take young people away overnight you need a Nights Away Permit. This page aims to document the process of becomming authorised to take young people away overnight, and what is necessary each time you do so.

How to get a Nights Away Permit

• Read this Factsheet: Nights Away Permit Scheme - An Introduction
• Read this and complete the form: Application for a Nights Away Permit
• Contact a Nights Away Adviser and send them your Permit Application
• Work with the Nights Away Advisor for their approval, and they will complete the recommendation on your Permit Application
• Send the Permit Application to the Nights Away Administrator
  
• If you would like a Nights Away Adviser to be assigned to you, please contact the Adventurous Activities Administrator

What to do for each Nights Away Event

• Ensure you or one of your team holds a Nights Away Permit valid for your activity (check category)
• Appoint a Home Contact, and ensure they have read the Home Contact Factsheet
• Complete the Nights Away Notification:
  • Over 1 week in advance of all normal Nights Away
  • To the Host DC if using facilities not operated or owned by Scouting (incl public sites, Youth Hostels)
